Raw foods, also known as  “living foods,” are  plant foods consumed at less than 118 degrees.  This though does not  mean you only eat cold veggie sticks. There is a lot more to the raw food diet that you might at first think!

The Benefits:
  • Lowered risk of many diseases. Researchers have found that a diet rich in raw vegetables can lower your risk of breast cancer, while eating lots of fruit can reduce your risk for developing colon cancer.  And including fresh fruit as part of your daily diet has been associated with fewer deaths from heart attacks.
  • Better digestion. Once food has passed the 118° mark, your body has to use its own metabolic enzymes to aid digestion. This takes energy from your body and leaves you feeling sluggish.
  • More nutritious. Heating often depletes food of many vitamins and minerals.
